I know I've brought up Dojo before but I want to emphasize the success I have experienced with it, here is how and why I use it...
Why Class Dojo?
- It TRACKS behavior
- Super motivating for students (we set up a Dojo store)
- Can be accessed from smart phones, tablets, & computers
- Parents can access daily behavior infomation
- Can include things like homework tracking
- Once you learn it, it's easy to use
- Can be tailored to your own program or LEVEL system!!!
- There's already a TON of resources made, you don't have to make any (unless you customize):

- It TRACKS behavior
In our class, we go over our "donuts" as a class meeting. It is a weekly report and the students share 1 positive and 1 area of improvement from their donut. Then the donut gets sent home for a parent signature. It's as specific as you want it to be.
They can also be use in IEP's to show progress, averages, etc. You can customize your date range.

Super motivating for students (we set up a Dojo store)
We set up our store for Fridays. We record their weekly earned dojo bucks. Some students save it for big ticket items, others spend every week, they like to make the choice. They get "passes" for the non-tangible items and they can cash them in the following week.
Some items:
$50 Ten minute tech break (their favorite)
$30 Show N' Tell
$25, 50, 100 Raffle toys/prizes
$25 Show a (5 min) chosen video (often funny cats) to class
$10 Candy
and more...

Can be accessed from smart phones, tablets, & computers
Yes, it's another log in! What I do is have a set username (colesclasscommunity) and keep the same password for all my school accounts. It keeps things simple.
Download the app (it's free) or have your TA's download.
JUST DO IT! :-)

- Parents can access daily behavior information &
- Can include things like homework tracking
They get an access code and it's in their hands to decide if they want to check out what's going on. I have some parents that look daily and ones that have never signed on (hence, the weekly take home). Parents can look at specific behaviors (including homework turned in, this is worth 10 dojo points in our class!!!) and if they want more understanding they can contact you, or you can write it on their sheet they take home.
Homework as an edit behavior (positive) is super motivating. Students know that they get 10 points for turning in homework. Our homework is passed out Monday and turned in Friday (student store day).
We also give ten points for parent signatures returned.
Everything can be tied into Dojo, even if it's bonus points!!
Once you learn it, it's easy to use
Can be tailored to your own program or LEVEL system!!
- You don't have to throw out your whole program that you've built.
- You can integrate the language into your positive and negative points.
- You can alter the attribution of points (between 1-5).
- It can be used as a simple device or incorporate your entire class positive support system.
- Some classes only use it for positive points, while I do both!
- Avatars can be photos, so even older students can be motivated.
Bonus Bucks=Tangible token
- We have printed dojo bonu$ buck$.
- We use these for "planned ignoring" so that students get a tangible item they can hold in their hands.
- They save these and add the to the bank on Fridays (student store day)
